Job Overview As a Safety Engineer in CERN's Beams Department, you'll be crucial in maintaining and enhancing safety operations in one of the world's most intricate scientific infrastructures. Your role involves evaluating safety requirements, conducting safety audits and inspections, authorizing activities, providing safety training, and improving safety and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate safety requirements and implement risk mitigation strategies for accelerator activities and projects.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and testing of installations.
• Authorize activities through safety evaluations and permits.
• Provide training and promote safety awareness.
• Contribute to continuous safety and quality system improvements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Nuclear Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Process Engineering, or related.
• Experience in safety engineering, risk evaluation, licensing, documentation, quality management, stakeholder liaison, and safety culture promotion.
• Knowledge in occupational safety, risk management, EU regulations on safety, and safety documentation management.
• Language skills: spoken and written in English or French, with a commitment to learn the other.

Additional Information

• Contract: Limited duration (5 years), with possibility for extension.
• Working hours: 40/week, including nights, Sundays, and holidays if needed.
• Work involves radiation areas, underground interventions, and driving.
• Position Grade: 6-7
